DSC Keypads & Panels

Keypad beeping or trouble light

Identify the panel family before using a trouble number. These tables are not interchangeable.

  1. Confirm this is a trouble chirp, not a fire, CO or intrusion alarm. For danger, leave the premises and call emergency services from safety.
  2. Read your panel model from your paperwork or keypad system information. Do not open the metal control cabinet. Choose classic PowerSeries or Neo below.
  3. Press *2 to inspect trouble conditions. Record the displayed number and any additional text. Use the matching lookup below.
  4. Classic PowerSeries: # temporarily quiets trouble chirps. Neo: press * to silence trouble chirps; # exits the trouble menu. Silencing does not repair the fault.

Trouble number lookup

Select a number to see the next check. If your code is not listed, record its full text and request help.

Classic PowerSeries · 1–8
1 Service Required

Press 1 for details: submenu 1 indicates low battery. Record other subcodes for support.

2 AC power loss

Check whether the premises has power. Do not open the control cabinet.

3 Telephone line trouble

Record the trouble and request a communication check.

4 Failure to communicate

Contact support; do not assume monitoring signals are reaching the station.

5 Zone fault

Press 5 to identify the affected zone and record it.

6 Zone tamper

Check an accessible sensor cover is fully closed.

7 Wireless device low battery

Identify the affected device before selecting a replacement battery.

8 Time/date not set

Use the time-setting instructions in your exact panel manual.

PowerSeries Neo · common codes 01–08
01 Service Required

Record the subcode. Clock trouble is subcode 04, not top-level code 08.

02 Battery trouble

May involve the panel or a module. Record the subcode for support.

03 Bus voltage

Request service. Do not alter panel wiring.

04 AC power loss

Check premises power and record the affected module.

05 Device fault

Record the device/zone identified by the display.

06 Device battery

Identify the indicated wireless device before replacing a battery.

07 Device tamper

Check the indicated accessible device cover.

08 RF delinquency

A wireless device has not checked in. Record its identity for support.

Cameras & Video

Alarm.com Wi-Fi or camera offline

Keep the camera enrolled. Do not factory-reset it or delete it from your account. Never share your Wi-Fi password or alarm code in a support request.

  1. Check the camera power supply, router power and whether other devices have internet. If safe and accessible, restart the camera by disconnecting its low-voltage power, then reconnecting. Allow it to finish starting.
  2. In your own Alarm.com mobile app, open Video, then Configure and select the camera. On supported devices, choose Reconnect Device (sometimes under Network), then follow the guided recovery prompts. Allow Bluetooth access if requested. This option is model- and firmware-dependent.
  3. If Reconnect Device is missing, do not guess a reset sequence. WPS is an alternative only when both your exact camera and router support it. For supported models whose manual specifies it, hold the camera WPS button about 2–3 seconds until its LED flashes blue, then release immediately.
  4. Activate WPS on the router using its own instructions. Wait about two minutes. A steady green camera LED normally indicates connection; confirm live video in the app. Stop if the LED or button behaviour differs. Doorbells and unsupported models need their own recovery instructions.

Sensors & Hardware

Replace a door or window sensor battery

For user-serviceable intrusion sensors only. Smoke/CO devices, sealed devices and the wired control-panel battery need their own procedures.

  1. Identify the sensor model and required battery on its label or manual. CR123A is a 3 V cylindrical cell; CR2032 is a 3 V coin cell; standard AA is commonly 1.5 V. These are not interchangeable. Some sensors use CR2 or CR2450 instead. Match the exact type, chemistry and quantity.
  2. Disarm the system. If monitored, arrange a test window with your monitoring provider and confirm it is active before opening the case. Disarming alone does not prevent tamper reporting.
  3. Use only the model’s cover latch or screw. Do not pry off the mounted base or touch wiring. Note polarity, remove the old battery and insert a fresh specified battery. Do not mix old and new cells. Keep coin cells away from children.
  4. Close and latch the cover fully. While disarmed and still in the confirmed test window, open and close the protected door/window and check that the correct zone changes state. For motion sensors, use their documented walk-test mode; sleep timers can delay indications.
  5. Confirm the cover tamper and battery trouble clear; some models take time to report. If doing a full alarm walk test, follow the exact panel manual and monitoring-provider instructions. End the test window with the provider and confirm normal protection is restored.

Temporarily bypass an open or faulty zone

A bypassed zone cannot protect its area. First try closing the door/window. Never bypass fire, CO, panic or an unidentified zone. Arrange repair for a faulty sensor.

  1. Disarm and identify the exact intrusion zone and panel family. Only proceed if you are authorized and accept that this area will be unprotected.
  2. Press *1 and enter your access code only if the keypad requests it. Classic PowerSeries uses a two-digit zone number (for example 05); Neo uses three digits (for example 005). Use your installed zone number, not an example.
  3. Verify the B marker or bypass indication belongs to the intended zone. Entering that zone number again toggles the bypass off. Press # to exit.
  4. Review all bypassed zones before arming using your usual method. Normal bypasses clear when disarmed, but 24-hour zones can require manual removal. Confirm restored protection after repair; do not assume silencing or bypassing fixes a fault.

Did this resolve your issue?

Good questions. Clear answers.

Does quieting a beeping keypad fix the trouble?

No. It only quiets the reminder temporarily. Read the trouble condition and confirm it clears after the cause is resolved.

Why can’t I reconnect every camera from the app?

Recovery options depend on the camera model, firmware and app version. An offline camera cannot receive ordinary remote settings. Use supported recovery options or request model-specific help.

Will disarming prevent a sensor tamper signal?

Not necessarily. Confirm a monitoring test window before opening a sensor. A cover switch can still report tamper while disarmed.

Should I factory-reset an offline camera?

No. A reset can remove settings and require re-enrolment. Check power, internet and the documented reconnect method first.
